What are Straight Radiator Valves made from?

Don’t get confused if you see that the valve is chrome, silver, copper etc. These all refer to the finish of the valve. Most straight valves are made from brass.

How Do I Know if I Need a Straight Radiator Valve?

Knowing when you need this valve type is quite simple.

If your pipework comes directly from the floor or is already angled as such, and the connection has to go directly from pipe to radiator without any bends, you can use a straight valve to go directly into the radiator.

If your pipe work comes from the floor, wall or ceiling at an angle, you’ll need to get angled radiator valves instead.  When the pipes project the wall and need to bend horizontally at 90°, then you need cornered radiator valves

Why Choose a Straight Radiator Valve?

You would choose this type of valve when functionality comes into play. If your pipes are straight up, this is a simpler option than having pipework done to fit an angled or corner valve. Some people also go for this option when purchasing towel rails that allow for direct entry from the bottom as it provides a cleaner-looking connection.

What Radiators Work Best With Straight Radiator Valves?

To keep the look as minimal as possible, straight valves work best with towel rails. Because of their design and versatility in terms of placement, it makes it easier to have a straight pipe intake and also take up less room. This works wonders when you want to save floor space somewhere like your bathroom or hallway.

It should be noted though that straight thermostatic valves aren’t the best option if you’re thinking of valves for the bathroom. The temperature and steam from sinks and showers can trick a thermostatic valve into thinking it has reached the desired temperature.
